The Institute of Parks and Recreation Singapore (IPRS) is a professional body dedicated to the conservation and enhancement of the country’s parks and other recreational facilities. We are inspired by the beauty of natural surroundings in contrast with the modern backdrop of the city.
We create a secure avenue in which the industry’s key stakeholders can come together to promote their businesses. We organize forums, talks, and visits throughout the year to make sure everybody is updated on important trends and issues.
At the same time, we invite the local community to have greater awareness and actively participate in our mission of environmental sustainability. Together, we hope to create flourishing Singapore with a rich and colourful biodiversity.
IPRS is represented in the Singapore Landscape Industry Council, Workplace Safety and Health, as well as the Construction and Landscaping Committee. In addition, we participate in the regional conference and world congress held by the International Federation of Parks and Recreation Administration (IFPRA).
Formed in 1987, IPRS was an initiative of former commissioner Mr. Wong Yew Kuan, under the old Parks and Recreation Department of the Ministry of National Development. Since then, we have become an advocate in enriching the lives of residents through Singapore’s very own parks and recreational centres.
